Greetings!
At last, the final Halloween-theme piece is here! For those that have just arrived, I’m IridiumArt, a 30-year old Brazilian woman artist who finally joined a publisher these past few months! My works are now under Black Buffalo Publishing‘s supervision and distribution, which resulted in remasters, reworks and soft retcons of a few of my already published works.
So far, I’ve already done a Menmar/Voltage mashup, an Aylie/Hagenos tribute, a La Miseràble/Black Power’s pot-pourri and a Manzikert/Buffalo cover for all of the comic book authors to enjoy. Now comes the fifth and final piece – which will pay tribute to one of BBP’s novels!
This piece will come both as a surprise and delight for those involved in this project – back when I joined BBP, it worked as a hybrid free-to-read platform and buy-to-access digital bookshop, and so I struck a deal with the owners to give them their first buy-to-access comic book stories, with full exclusivity: Uirapuru and Razbunare, with both main characters featured in the art piece below.
Uirapuru, which bears the full title of Uirapuru: Quem Canta os Males Espanta (transl.: Uirapuru: A Song a Day Keeps Evil at Bay), tells the story of Alexandra, a Brazilian female federal police agent which hails from one of Brazil’s Traditional Peoples (also know as Indigenous Tribes of Brazil) who discovers her secret powers through singing – mimicking the Uirapuru folklore – during a police raid on one of Brazil’s largest airports.
Razbunare (Romanian: Revenge), bearing the full title of Razbunare: Vingança em Atos (transl.: Razbunare – Revenge by Acts) tells the story of Mihai Stanoponescu, a Romanichal Romenian young man whose parents were assassinated – and he manages to track the assassin down to Brasília, Brazil, just to find out there’s more to the narrative, both in terms of reality and supernatural occurrences. The story spans from the 1980’s to 1990’s and its plot is based on Alexandre Dumas’ Count of Monte Cristo.

Both Alexandra and Mihai, albeit from different stories, are paying homage and tribute to Daten-shi no Isan (transl.: The Legacy of the Fallen Angel), by Hadryan Takada. The novel is about a supernatural world where the demon king, Yamata-no-Orochi, reigns and individuals must rely on courage and skill to survive. Following the author’s personal recomendations, Alexandra is dressed up as Fujiwara Noro, while Mihai dons the clothing of Zack Joseph.
Daten-shi no Isan is scheduled to be released exclusively on Black Buffalo Publishing’s store soon enough, and both Uirapuru and Razbunare will debut next year!
Stay tuned for more!
Kind Regards,
IridiumArt.
