Greetings!

Since I finished A Court of Dreams‘ production, I realized other characters needed proper attention and introduction. Therefore, I decided to do a few posts about the supporting cast featured in Aylie Anthology’s “A Court of Dreams”!

I already did such posts for both Aylie’s parents, Declan and Namoura. This time we’ll be talking about the Queen Among the Fae herself, Queen Maelyrra, and why she’s pivotal to Aylie’s saga. This post follows a similar pattern to those of La Miseràble’s Backstage!

Profile Overview

Queen Maelyrra Olivetree wasn’t supposed to be queen; born to Menelaos & Aisling Olivetree (neé Figtree), she is cousin to Declan Figtree on her mother’s side, which makes Aylie her second cousin. Her House was a cadet branch to the Figtrees until King Aidan Figtree’s abdication and Declan’s refusal to ascend as King Among the Fae.

The sudden change of roles from second-tier Princess to Queen Reignant caused her to resent her cousin for his lack of diligence. His brash, free-living attitudes further increased the rift and his marriage to Namoura of Candia only added another topic on the list of chargrins Maelyrra bore towards her cousin.

As she became more accostumed to navigate both her queenship and the political entanglements of The Court of Dreams, her personal grievances cooled off, and Aylie’s birth even meant somewhat of a truce between Queen Maelyrra and Baron Declan. Though someone stern and aloof, Maelyrra has plenty of love and warmth within – she just chose to hide it to protect herself.
