Greetings!

Since I finished A Court of Dreams‘ production, I realized other characters needed proper attention and introduction. Therefore, I decided to do a few posts about the supporting cast featured in Aylie Anthology’s “A Court of Dreams”, starting with Aylie’s father, Declan Figtree! These posts will be quite similar to La Miseràble’s Backstage ones, for instance.

Profile Overview

Declan Figtree is a Dream Nymph, cousin to Queen Maelyrra and son of King Aidan & Queen Iseult Figtree. His father abdicated in favour of his niece to prevent civil war among the Nymph Noble Houses Among the Fae. Rumour says that he was forced to do it after marrying Morrighan Yewtree, Declan’s stepmother, and both have vanished from the Dream Realm ever since.

Declan, on the other hand, never saw himself fit to be the King Among the Fae, so he never objected his cousin’s ascension. However, due to his free-living and brash attitudes, we has kept under surveillance and even employed in battlefield by the Royal Dreamguard in order to prevent his image to be used by claimant factions. Nevertheless, when he survived one of the most brutal conflicts among the Fae, Declan himself renounced any claims he had and took Namoura of Candia as his Consort to further distance himself from Feyrist’s politics, much to his cousin Maelyrra’s chargrin.

Though he is no longer a soldier, Declan has plenty of fight inside; he keeps his claymore magically embedded in his skin and carries his short sword with him wherever he goes. In his prime days as a sellsword, however, he used to fight with lances and polearms and was a true testament of Fae magic and might. Nowadays, he’s content and happy being a farmer and father to Aylie.
