Greetings everyone!
I hope you have liked the Aylie Anthology series so far! As I stated on a previous post, this series was a commissioned project for the Tibian (former) fansite TibiaTales, which is focused on their main character and mascot Aylie and her quest to obtain her wings and be recognized as a full-fledged Fae.
The original run I proposed to TibiaTales staff consisted in three phases for Aylie Anthology: the slices-of-life comic strips (the Anthology), which would be posted every forthnight, and two oneshot projects, one to celebrate her birthday on June 12th and another for Christmas’ Eve.
Since the fansite lost its status as a Supported and Promoted one, I reposted the comic strips which had been already published and kept the issues running until the proposed date of June, in which it would be posted the first commemorative oneshot: A Court of Dreams.
If you don’t want to have spoiler, I suggest you jump straight to the end of this article to get the estimated date of this series’ return!
A Court of Dreams
Attention: spoilers ahead!
Aylie’s A Court of Dreams would be both a recap of Aylie’s background and a pick-up exactly from the Anthology’s last stop, in which it would be revealed why Aylie’s wings weren’t there in the first place and the responsibilites she’d have from now on, given the newfound powers she now holds.
Also, A Court of Dreams, as the title says, focuses on the Fae Realm’s dynamics and politics, reinforcing how important and critical it is for Aylie to be able to claim both her wings and her rightful place among the Fae Courts. Dreamwalking, Fae-Elven relationships, Human magicks and Fae Contracts will be among the explored themes of this issue – and it will be far from over. I won’t be saying much more about it, though: I don’t want to spoil all of it!
From Drylands to Lax Wires
Attention: spoilers ahead!
The second and final(!) installment of Aylie was supposed to be posted on December to celebrate real life’s Christmas Eve and Tibia’s Winterlight Solstice, with a twist.
Aylie’s From Drylands to Lax Wires is somewhat the opposite of A Court of Dreams in terms of aesthetics, tones and themes. Here, Dream and Nightmare will come to a clash as Aylie will come to the devastating realization that the Dream Realm is in mortal peril. And to make things worse, she’ll be forced to do the worst of bargains, which will give her the power she needs – but at a terrible price.
The title was inspired by a Brazilian song called “Estação do Sonho“, which has followed me since childhood and it is a recurring theme in several of my projects. “From Drylands to Lax Wires” is a direct translation of one sentence contained in the lyrics’ chorus (“Da terra firme ao arame bambo”). Considering the plot I have created for this particular oneshot, this song was perfectly fitting for it. Once again, I won’t spoil more about this issue: I want to see your most genuine reactions when you come across both A Court of Dreams and From Drylands to Lax Wires.
When Will the Hiatus End?
Since I’ll be working on La Miseràble, Menmar, Behogár Bradana and Saoshyant for these next few months, Aylie will be back on either March or April 2025. I will be able to provide an exact date on January, to which I hope I’ll have more time available to work on them.
Until then, this lovely fairy will bid you farewell – but you’ll be reunited with Aylie sweet and soon, I promise!
Kind regards,
Iridium Art.
